From 1 November 2023 Budesonide Te Arai (3mg capsules) will be funded by Pharmac, as a result of Pharmacs annual tender.[1] Budesonide Te Arai is taken by people with Crohn's disease.
Te Arai BioFarma is proud to be the first generic budesonide 3mg medicine to be funded in New Zealand. By working with our manufacturing partners in Italy and Spain Te Arai BioFarma have a quality product available at a lower cost. The change to Budesonide Te Arai will save Pharmac and taxpayers over $300,000 per year. "We hope that the cost savings we generate will help Pharmac to fund new medicines for people in need," said Jennifer Gravatt, Te Arai BioFarma Director.
Budesonide Te Arai will be available on prescription from local pharmacies from 1 November 2023. For any queries relating to a change to your medicine please talk with your pharmacist or contact us at enquiries@tearaibiofarma.com
